Destination Dragonfly
Destination Dragonfly, follow up to my first album "Spells". Recurring question, "what is the title about, what does it mean?" Well, oftentimes I find the journey itself, provides more value and learning than the actual final destination. In many cultures, the Dragonfly is a symbol of improvement and continually making better. I've not actually arrived yet, but I believe I'm now moving in the right direction.

Every Morning
Written by Gerry Donnelly (GD).
Uptempo ballad written in Akbuk Turkey in 2023. Draws from the concept that no matter where we are on the planet, we still see the same view of the moon ( I think).

If You Can Stay
Written by GD

Latin/Bossa style drives this track.

Duet with the very lovely Mary Donnelly.
LUE-06
Written by GD.
The first of two tracks from the album which were written in the early 1980’s. “Love song” about a machine tool, I guess.
Unseasonal weather
Written by GD.
This reflective track began as an acoustic song and grew into a bit of a production.
Miss you baby
Written by GD.
Just a wee guitar based pop shuffle.
Desolation
Written by GD.
Second track on the album from the early 80’s. The song came out of a very difficult experience focused around the demise of the Caterpillar Tractor Plant.
Featuring Alasdair Ferguson on keyboards and Drew McBride on drums.

Touch of Your Hand
Written by GD.
Mid tempo pop/rock ballad featuring Mary Donnelly on backing vocals.
Destination Dragonfly
Written by GD/ Rob Armstrong
Album title track and concept theme for the project. Tackles the subject of life’s grand journeys and interesting destinations. In many cultures, the Dragonfly is the symbol of hope and continuous improvement.
Featuring Mary Donnelly on backing vocals.

Young Hero
Written by GD
In the interest of light and shade, I give you an acoustic singer songwriter style track. This song is less about my Dad and more about my dislike for the term “man up”.
Hate’s a Passion
Written by Alasdair Ferguson

Previously unreleased track by Glasgow band The Jewel Scheme, this is first single from the album and takes on a funk style.
Great to work with Al and Drew again, just like the old days.

Thanks
Destination Dragonfly was recorded in phases between mid 2023 and June 2025, special thanks to Mary Donnelly for her endless patience, support and understanding.
Many thanks to Alasdair for allowing me to record his song and for his collaboration and encouragement. Also, big thanks to Drew for his exceptional drumming on Deso and Hates a passion.
Thanks to Jon Astley for Mastering services, great job.
Final thanks need to go to my song writing partner and great friend, Rob Armstrong. I mean, how am I gonna come up with a lyric like “Highs of Cairngorm to the depths of the Alboran sea”. Everybody should have a geek in their close circle, keep it up, I love you.
Destination Dragonfly is dedicated to the memory of Fiona, Lorna and Ann xx
